What a wonderful day Ashley and Walter had as they took their vows and started their life together as man and wife. On a gorgeous July afternoon with a small gathering of friends and family they made their commitment to one another and it couldn’t have been more beautiful.

A couple of weeks ago I met up with Ashley and Walter and we spent some time around Port Jervis shooting their engagement session. As much as I enjoy the excitement and emotions that I get to capture at weddings, engagement sessions are also incredibly fun for me. It’s a chance to get to know the couple who have entrusted me with photographing one of the most important days in their lives. That’s a huge responsibility and the better I know my clients, the better chance we have to make photographs that are beyond the ordinary. All the little stories about how they met and things that they enjoy doing add up to me being able to showcase them as a couple so much better than if I was meeting them for the first time on the day of their wedding and that can go a long way toward making the photographs of their wedding just a little bit more special.
