Wow, it’s almost April already!

The snow is gone (finally) and spring is returning to the Hudson Valley! We have been pretty busy around here getting ready for the 2009 wedding season and a myriad of other projects. One of the things we like to do at Quinnco Photography is to work with other businesses who provide services our clients may need. When it comes to weddings there are a whole host of vendors that prospective brides will meet with to discuss their special day. One of the ways for brides to find out more is to attend bridal shows and expos like the one we participated in last night at Colden Manor at Spruce Lodge in Coldenham. There was a great turnout and we had the pleasure of meeting a lot of bride-to-be’s and answer a lot of questions about wedding photography. We loved it! And we look forward to photographing our free mini-session winner Lenora! Thanks to everyone who came out last night, we look forward to speaking with you again soon!
From time to time we also have the opportunity to meet and work with other vendors, which we did just a few weeks ago. I had met with Bill from The Inn at Stony Creek a while back to discuss some trends that are happening in our industry with the recent downward slide of the economy. During our meeting we decided to try something that would make good use of both of our winter down times. In this industry it is essential to have a great working relationship with the vendors in our area, so we invited a few local people to collaborate and work on a bridal shoot at the inn. It’s always great to be able to get a chance to meet and work with other vendors in the area, and in turn help our clients find wonderful businesses to meet their wedding needs. We got a lot of work done, and had a great time working together.
Bill graciously allowed us to shoot at the Inn, and Nicole, a wonderful hair and make-up artist, worked her magic on our beautiful model to complete the look.
No bride would be complete without a beautiful bouquet and two of our local area florists, Floral Cottage of Chester and Antiques and Flowers in Warwick offered their talents for the shoot. All of the floral designs were very different from one another and truly illustrated themes ranging from traditional to contemporary. Working at the Inn at Stony Creek was fantastic! Bill gave us complete run of the place, and we took full advantage of the beautiful setting. Talk about a place with character! If you are looking for a great venue for your upcoming event, please check them out! The Inn is a perfect spot for an intimate wedding or just a nice weekend get away. Tell Bill I sent you!
So here are some shots from the day, I hope you like them! Feel free to drop a note!
And also a fun little video
We also had a great portrait session with Anna over in Newburgh. We had been trying to set something up for a while but the weather kept conspiring against us. But on Friday Anna braved the 35 degree cold (previous day was like 55 degrees) and we hit the waterfront some some fun stuff. Thanks Anna!
And here is a quick little video for Anna as well!
Catching up…

Wow, where does the time go? We are in March already and the summer is coming quick! I wanted to take a minute here to catch you up on what has been happening here at Quinnco Photography. The phones have been ringing and it seems there are still many brides still looking for photographers and venues for 2009. If you know someone who is getting married this year, let them know to get things locked up quickly as dates are getting booked quickly. And for those of you who have inquired about 2010, good for you! You will find that this is a great time to get ahead of the game and you stand a better chance of getting the vendors you want on the date you wanted.
And speaking of wedding vendors, I want to take a minute to mention a great venue that I visited the other day. I was going over to Warwick and I had promised myself to stop in at The Inn at Stony Creek so I gave Bill a call at the Inn and he said to come on by. Boy was I glad I did! What a great place and one that you owe it to yourself to check out, even if it is just for a weekend get-away. Bill was telling me about the weddings they have done there and that they are doing some construction that will allow them to even better serve their wedding and event clients. Very cool stuff! Well worth a call if you are looking for something a little different from the big hall type venue. Stay tuned for more on The Inn at Stony Creek…
As I said, it has been a busy couple of weeks and I want to thank Jessica and Paul and Kate and Joe. These are my latest couples who have selected me to photograph their weddings and I cannot tell you how honored I am. Keep an eye on the blog because as soon as this winter weather leaves for good, who ordered today’s snow by the way, we are going to get out and start getting engagement sessions going. Those are always so much fun and a great way to build rapport between photographers and our couples. We have a few new things were are going to try this year because we are always looking for new ideas and how to give our clients the best value so check back often!
I can’t leave you without some kind of pictures!?!?! Let’s see, what else do we have? Oh yes! Say hello to Sam. Sam was another participant in the Pineapple Day Spa event and we just had a blast shooting together. Keep your eye out, I think you will be seeing more of Sam in the future…
Oh, you might want to turn down the volume a little…
